Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Extends Harvest Weight Limit Proclamation for Agricultural Transport
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has extended a harvest proclamation that modifies weight limits for vehicles transporting agricultural products and materials. This proclamation, which has been in effect since September 10, will now continue through November 7. It permits vehicles carrying specific agricultural commodities, including corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer, and manure, to exceed standard weight limits without requiring a special permit. However, there is a strict cap, as these vehicles are not allowed to exceed 90,000 pounds. The exemption applies to all highways within Iowa, with the notable exclusion of the interstate system. This measure aims to provide operational flexibility for the agricultural sector during the critical fall harvest season, facilitating the movement of essential farm goods and inputs across the state's road network.
