This legislation seeks to close the coverage gap for federally regulated health plans, making oral cancer treatments more accessible and affordable. Oral medications offer a less invasive treatment option and can be taken at home, reducing logistical barriers for patients. Despite these benefits, high copays have made these treatments inaccessible for many. The bill aims to address this issue by expanding oral parity protections to privately-insured patients and preventing insurers from imposing different cost-sharing rates for oral and IV treatments.
