Known affectionately as 'Mr. Doughty,' he was a significant influence in the local hospitality and entertainment industry. Doughty was the founder of The Banque, a well-known restaurant and nightclub in Norfolk, Virginia, which he established in 1973. Over the years, The Banque became a staple in the community, celebrated for its live music and vibrant atmosphere. Doughty's career began as the Food and Beverage Director with Ramada Inn Hotels, where he developed dining and music venues nationwide. His vision for The Banque transformed a vacant supermarket into a thriving social hub. Doughty was also known for his charitable work with organizations like the St. Jude's Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project. He is survived by his wife, Kay, and his family, who remember him for his kindness, generosity, and dedication to community service.
