Philadelphia Museum of Art Hosts Van Gogh Sunflowers with Rare Loan from London's National Gallery
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is currently showcasing a unique exhibition featuring two of Vincent van Gogh's iconic Sunflowers paintings. This exhibition, titled 'Van Gogh’s Sunflowers: A Symphony in Blue and Yellow,' includes a rare loan from London's National Gallery. The London painting, which has a yellow background, is being displayed alongside the Philadelphia Museum's own version with a turquoise-blue background. This marks the first time the London painting has crossed the Atlantic, reciprocating a 2024 loan of the Philadelphia Sunflowers to the National Gallery. The exhibition explores Van Gogh's evolving ideas on how his masterpieces should be displayed, highlighting the artist's ambition to create a series of Sunflowers paintings as a 'symphony in blue and yellow.'
