New Jersey Voters Favor Full-Service Gas Stations, Poll Reveals
A recent poll conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University indicates that a majority of New Jersey voters prefer to maintain the state's full-service gas station model. The poll, which surveyed 1,211 New Jersey voters, found that 64% support keeping full-service gas stations, while only 24% favor switching to self-service. This preference is particularly strong among women and younger residents, with 74% of women preferring full-service compared to 56% of men. The support for full-service is also higher among younger age groups, with 68% of those aged 30 and under in favor. New Jersey has mandated full-service gas since 1949, originally as a safety measure, and remains the only state with such a requirement after Oregon allowed self-service in 2023.
