Wyoming Delegates Persist in Efforts to Delist Gray Wolves Despite Senate Block
A bill aimed at delisting gray wolves from the Endangered Species Act across the Lower 48 states was blocked in the U.S. Senate. The bill, co-sponsored by Wyoming Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis, faced opposition from Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey. Despite this setback, the Wyoming delegation, including Representative Harriet Hageman, remains committed to pursuing the legislation. Hageman criticized 'elitist East Coast politicians' for obstructing the bill, emphasizing the need for state management of wolf populations. National livestock organizations have also called for the Senate to pass the bill, citing threats to livestock and ranchers' livelihoods.
