Gordie Howe International Bridge Opens, Enhancing US-Canada Connectivity
The Gordie Howe International Bridge, a major infrastructure project connecting the USA and Canada, has officially opened. Spanning 853 meters, it is the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. The bridge links Ontario's Highway 401 with Michigan's Interstate-75, facilitating millions of truck crossings annually. Construction began in 2018 and involved over 15,000 workers. The bridge features six traffic lanes and extensive inspection facilities. It is illuminated by over 6,000 LEDs, symbolizing a significant engineering achievement.
