Travis Kelce Named Victim in Multi-Million Dollar Fraud Case; Congressman Sam Graves Advocated for Defendant
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been identified as a victim in a multi-million dollar fraud case. The defendant, Sid Jawahar, was sentenced to 11 years in prison in St. Louis for a Ponzi scheme that defrauded victims of over $25 million. Jawahar pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud charges in January, having used new investor money to repay older investors and fund an extravagant lifestyle. Notably, Missouri Congressman Sam Graves submitted a letter on Congressional letterhead to U.S. Judge Zachary Bluestone, urging a lenient sentence of 48 months for Jawahar, stating he was writing in his personal capacity. Prosecutors alleged that Jawahar engaged a political consulting firm, Axiom Strategies, for $10,000 to assist with advocacy letters for his sentencing. A 2021 Forbes article indicated Kelce was an investor in a fund co-founded by Jawahar.
