Delta Air Lines Hub in Atlanta Retains Title as World's Busiest Airport Amid Global Air Traffic Growth
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the primary hub for Delta Air Lines, has maintained its position as the world's busiest airport for passenger traffic in 2025. According to preliminary figures from Airports Council International (ACI), the airport handled 106.3 million passengers, despite a 1.6% decline from 2024 and a nearly 4% decrease from 2019. The global air traffic in 2025 reached an estimated 9.8 billion passengers, marking a 3.6% increase from 2024 and a 7.3% rise from pre-pandemic levels in 2019. The rankings also highlighted Dubai International Airport as the second busiest, with Tokyo's Haneda Airport moving up to third place. The report notes that while air traffic has been robust, geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties could impact future growth.
