Thieves Steal Copper Wire from Pasadena Bakery, Leaving It Without AC During Heatwave
A bakery in Pasadena, California, is facing significant challenges after thieves stole $4,000 worth of copper wire from its air conditioning system. The theft occurred during a severe heatwave, causing the temperature inside the Sweet Red Peach Bakery to rise to 90 degrees. The bakery, known for its Southern-style desserts, is struggling to maintain its operations as the heat affects its products, with cakes melting and freezing units at risk of failing. The incident has left the bakery with a $15,000 repair bill. Co-owner Danny Griffin expressed frustration over the situation, noting that the theft was unexpected and has compounded the difficulties faced by the business, which had already been recovering from a previous fire incident.
