John Goodwin Derdall Passes Away at 90, Leaving Legacy in Chicago Television
John Goodwin Derdall, a prominent figure in Chicago's television industry, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on March 31, 2026. He was accompanied by his wife, Janet M. Derdall, to whom he was married for nearly 70 years. Derdall was a graduate of the University of Iowa, where he earned a degree in Theater Arts. His career spanned several decades, during which he worked for major TV networks in Chicago, including WGN, NBC, and CBS. He was also a life member of the United Scenic Artists Union, Local 829. After retiring from television, Derdall contributed to the Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades by helping to establish the Retirement Fund. His funeral arrangements are being handled by Hallowell and James Funeral Home in Countryside, IL.
