NCLA Reaches Settlement with State Department Over Censorship Allegations
The New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) has reached a settlement in a lawsuit against the U.S. State Department, which was accused of funding censorship of American media. The lawsuit, involving The Daily Wire and The Federalist, challenged the State Department's use of technology to suppress constitutionally protected speech on topics such as Covid-19 and election integrity. The settlement prohibits the State Department from using or promoting technology that censors domestic media and bars collaboration with foreign entities for such purposes. This legal victory is seen as a significant step in safeguarding free speech and press freedoms in the U.S.
