New Jersey Influencer's Death in Zanzibar Raises Questions Amid Birthday Trip
Ashly Robinson, a 31-year-old social media influencer from New Jersey, died during a birthday vacation in Zanzibar with her fiancé, Joe McCann. The couple had been dating for a year, and McCann proposed just days before Robinson's death. Robinson was found dead on April 9, shortly after expressing concerns to her parents about the trip turning sour. According to reports, Robinson and McCann had a severe argument, leading hotel staff to separate them into different rooms. McCann later informed Robinson's parents that she had harmed herself, and her death was attributed to cerebral hypoxia by strangulation and suffocation. Despite McCann's claim that Robinson hung herself, her family is skeptical and demands further investigation. Zanzibar police have questioned McCann as a witness but do not suspect him of wrongdoing, although his passport is currently withheld.
