Teen Entrepreneur Launches Pressure Washing Business to Escape Shelter System
Johnathon Mcintosh, a 17-year-old from Guelph, has initiated his own pressure washing business, Speed River Pressure Washing, as a means to exit the shelter system. Mcintosh, who has been living in shelters for over a year, started the business in July, transporting a nearly 50-kilogram pressure washer by bike to reach his clients. His motivation stems from a desire to break the stereotype that individuals in shelters are not making efforts to improve their situations. Despite the challenges of hauling heavy equipment, Mcintosh is determined to succeed and has already secured five clients, with hopes to expand to 20 by the end of the summer. He received support from the Business Centre Guelph Wellington's Summer Company program, which provides funding and mentorship to young entrepreneurs.
