Chicago Teen Takeover Mob Rams Police Cruiser, Sparks Criticism from Officials
In Chicago, a police cruiser was rammed by another vehicle during a teen takeover event, as onlookers cheered and recorded the incident. This event occurred early Wednesday morning, with a group of individuals surrounding the police car and pushing it backward. Maximus Wyderski, 19, was charged with misdemeanor reckless driving and other offenses, although he claims he was not involved in the incident. A second street takeover took place in the Hegewisch neighborhood, where masked individuals prevented a police cruiser from moving. Alderman Raymond Lopez expressed concern over the lack of arrests, stating that everyone involved should be held accountable. Illinois State Comptroller Susan Mendoza criticized Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson for not taking stronger action, calling for more severe consequences for those involved.
