Karan Beef Resumes Exports After Foot-and-Mouth Disease Disruptions
Karan Beef, a major player in South Africa's beef industry, has resumed exports after more than a year of disruptions caused by foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). The first export container, destined for Jordan, marks a significant recovery milestone for the industry. The resumption of exports was made possible by a national vaccination program, which has been instrumental in controlling the disease and restoring market confidence. Prior to the FMD outbreak, Karan Beef exported to over 14 markets across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The company credits the vaccination efforts led by the South African government for enabling the reopening of international markets.
