DHS Celebrates Successful Security Operations at FIFA World Cup 2026
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the successful completion of security operations for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which was co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The event, described as the largest sporting event in history, required a comprehensive security effort involving multiple DHS components and federal partners. Over 38 days and 78 matches, DHS ensured the safety of millions of fans and visitors, with no major security incidents reported. The operations included drone seizures, vehicle inspections, and the arrest of individuals involved in human trafficking and counterfeit merchandise.
