The Select Committee on China has released an investigation detailing China's efforts to acquire advanced AI capabilities through both legal and illegal means. The report, titled 'Buy What It Can, Steal What It Must,' highlights China's use of smuggling networks to obtain restricted AI chips and its extraction of advanced capabilities from American developers through industrial-scale fraud. The investigation emphasizes the strategic importance of AI in U.S.-China competition, with both nations prioritizing leadership in this field as a national security concern.
