Asheville Community Transforms Flood Damage into Art Project
In Asheville, North Carolina, a local art studio, Local Cloth, is spearheading a community art project to commemorate the height reached by floodwaters during the Helene flood. The project involves creating fiber art strips that will be placed along the waterline inside the studio. This initiative is part of the community's efforts to heal and rebuild after the flood caused significant damage, destroying looms and furniture. The studio, which reopened last September with the help of community support and grants, is now engaging local artists and residents in this creative endeavor. The project aims to symbolize resilience and recovery, with contributions being accepted until September 1.
