Hyke Electric Ferry Pilot Demonstrates Success in Norwegian Public Transport
Hyke's fully electric F-15 Shuttle has completed a successful 14-month pilot in Fredrikstad, Norway, showcasing its potential as a cost-effective urban mobility solution. The ferry, part of Fredrikstad's municipal transport system, carried over 41,000 passengers on a 225-meter river crossing route. The electric ferry demonstrated up to 88% lower energy consumption compared to diesel vessels, using power equivalent to five household hair dryers. The pilot was part of Fredrikstad's sustainable mobility strategy, supported by the Urban Growth Agreement and the EU Horizon Europe SUM program.
