Downtown Biloxi Initiates Phased Lighting Upgrades for Enhanced Safety and Visibility
Downtown Biloxi is undergoing a phased project to upgrade its lighting infrastructure, aiming to improve nighttime visibility and safety. Mississippi Power is spearheading this initiative, replacing existing lights along Howard Avenue with new, brighter, and more energy-efficient LED fixtures. The initial phase of the project focuses on the stretch of Howard Avenue from Reynoir Street to Lameuse Street. This first stage includes the installation of eight new, taller light poles, which are expected to significantly enhance illumination in the area. Future phases are planned to extend these upgrades further along Howard Avenue, specifically from Main Street to Porter Avenue, and then south on Rue Magnolia to Beach Boulevard. This comprehensive upgrade reflects a commitment to modernizing urban infrastructure and ensuring a safer environment for residents and visitors in downtown Biloxi.
