Maritime Executive Calls for Clarity on K8 Declaration Amid Industry Confusion
Datuk Seri Jeyenderan Ramasamy, CEO of Maritime Network Sdn Bhd, has urged the Royal Malaysian Customs Department to clarify the implementation of the K8 declaration procedure, which is causing confusion in the petroleum industry at Tanjung Langsat Port. The K8 procedure relates to the handling of petroleum cargo after unloading into storage tanks. Ramasamy's call for clarification follows a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding discrepancies between bills of lading and the physical movement of petroleum cargo. He seeks clarity on whether cargo must remain segregated in storage and on Customs' monitoring procedures. The uncertainty is affecting daily operations, including trade documentation and regulatory compliance, and could impact Malaysia's position as a regional petroleum hub.
