Oak Forest Farmers Market Revives After Long Hiatus, Homewood Expands Offerings
The Oak Forest farmers market has reopened after a hiatus of 10 to 15 years, drawing residents and visitors to the Oak Forest Metra station. Organized by Rae Zekas of Bosco’s Marketplace, the market aims to support local small businesses and foster community engagement. The market, held on alternating Wednesdays, features a variety of vendors, including local musicians like Chick Reardon, who provided live music. Meanwhile, the Homewood farmers market, a long-standing event for over 40 years, has expanded its offerings this year. Under the coordination of Christine Banks, the market now includes 70 vendors, with 30 new additions, responding to community feedback for more diverse products such as meat, coffee, and juice vendors.
