Sophia Eko, a student from Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, has been announced as the winner of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition. This competition is a bipartisan event sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Congressional Institute, aimed at encouraging artistic talents among high school students across the nation. Eko's artwork, titled 'Not Really Enough,' was created using pencil and watercolors and depicts a girl painting flowers on herself to reflect femininity. As a result of her win, Eko's artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for approximately 11 months. U.S. Representative Frank J. Mrvan, D-Highland, congratulated Eko on her achievement, highlighting the significance of her work in representing the region.
