EU Sustainable Supply Chains Coalition Formed to Enhance Agricultural Sustainability
A new coalition, the EU Sustainable Supply Chains Coalition, has been established to promote sustainability in European Union agricultural supply chains. This coalition includes major food companies such as Nestlé, Barry Callebaut, Mars, and Ferrero, alongside certification bodies like the Rainforest Alliance and the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil. The coalition aims to influence EU policy and legislation to ensure sustainable practices, respect for human rights, and resilient sourcing for European businesses and consumers. The formation of this coalition follows a meeting on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which is under review and expected to be completed by April 30. The coalition emphasizes the need for the EU's anti-deforestation rules to be implemented promptly to prevent rewarding non-compliance.
