Embraer Plans KC-390 Missile Launch Capability and Expands Gripen Production for International Market
Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace company, is considering adding a missile-launch capability to its KC-390 tanker transport aircraft. This development is part of a broader strategy to enhance the aircraft's appeal to international markets. The company has also announced plans to expand the production of Saab Gripen fighters, with an agreement to build 20 additional units at its facility in Gaviao Peixoto, Sao Paulo. This expansion follows the initial assembly of 16 Gripen fighters for the Brazilian Air Force. Embraer is collaborating with Anduril to potentially integrate the Barracuda-500M cruise missile into the KC-390. The company is also working on the first KC-390s for the United Arab Emirates, which has ordered 10 aircraft with options for 10 more.
