National Telecommunications and Information Administration Advocates for U.S. Leadership in 6G Amid Global Competition
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), a U.S. government agency advising the White House on telecom policy, has issued a call to action for leadership and security in the development of 6G networks. This initiative includes a coalition of 24 countries, primarily Western democracies, aiming to strengthen economic competitiveness, security, and global leadership through 6G technology. The NTIA's statement highlights the potential of 6G to support innovations in artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and defense applications. The move comes as the U.S. seeks to counter China's dominance in 5G technology, where Huawei has been a leading vendor. Despite the U.S.'s efforts to limit Huawei's influence, the company remains a significant player in global telecom markets, particularly in Europe.
