Log Cabin Republicans Remove 'Transgender' from Advocacy Focus, Aligning with President Trump's Policies
The Log Cabin Republicans, a conservative gay rights organization, has announced it will now operate as an 'LGB' advocacy group, effectively removing 'transgender' from its core mission. This decision, made by the organization's board of directors, is attributed to a 'new era of gender identity politics,' according to Log Cabin Republicans president Ross Hemminger. The move aligns with policies enacted by President Trump's administration since his return to office in 2025, which have included bans and restrictions targeting transgender Americans. Hemminger's op-ed criticized the transgender movement for focusing on minors, promoting 'radical gender ideology' in schools, advocating for biological males in women's sports, and supporting gender reassignment treatments for minors without parental consent. Critics, including LGBTQ Nation and the Human Rights Campaign, have described these comments as 'untrue and inflammatory' and accused the group of 'fear-mongering.'
