World's Largest Electric Ferry Embarks on Journey to South America
The world's largest electric ferry, constructed in Tasmania, has been loaded onto a cargo ship for its journey to Argentina. Built by Incat, the 130-meter ferry will operate between Argentina and Uruguay, carrying over 2,000 passengers and 225 vehicles entirely on battery power. The ferry features more than 5,000 lithium-ion battery units, marking one of the largest battery installations on a ship. Incat's chairman, Robert Clifford, highlighted the vessel's significance in advancing sustainable maritime transport. The ferry's construction has garnered international attention, reflecting the growing demand for eco-friendly ferry technology.
