Worcester County District Attorney's Office Investigates Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Erving
The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office is currently investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in Erving, Massachusetts. The incident resulted in the death of Brandon William Hampson, a 55-year-old New York resident. According to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr., police from Suffolk County, New York, were searching for Hampson in connection with a recent homicide. Investigators located his vehicle outside the French King Motel and Restaurant in Erving. When Massachusetts State Police and the Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force encountered Hampson, he was wielding a sharp object. Officers issued multiple verbal commands for him to drop the weapon, but he reportedly did not comply and charged towards them.
