Worcester County District Attorney's Office Investigates Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Erving
The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office is currently investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in Erving, Massachusetts. The incident resulted in the death of Brandon William Hampson, a 55-year-old New York resident. According to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr., police from Suffolk County, New York, were searching for Hampson in connection with a recent homicide. Investigators located his vehicle outside the French King Motel and Restaurant in Erving. When Massachusetts State Police and the Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force encountered Hampson, he was wielding a sharp object. Officers issued multiple verbal commands for him to drop the weapon, but he reportedly did not comply and charged towards them. Officers then discharged their firearms, striking Hampson, who was later pronounced deceased at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
