President Trump Administration Appoints Former JPMorgan Executive Matt Zames as Social Security Agency Advisor
The Trump administration has appointed Matt Zames, a former JPMorgan Chase executive, as an advisor to the Social Security Administration (SSA). Zames will serve in an unpaid capacity, assisting Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano, his former colleague at JPMorgan, with the modernization of the agency. He is scheduled to begin his role at the SSA headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. Zames has a notable background, having served as JPMorgan's chief operating officer for approximately five years, where he led technology and cost-cutting initiatives. Prior to this, he was a hedge-fund trader and played a key role in addressing the bank's 'London Whale' trading loss. After leaving JPMorgan in 2017, Zames became president of private equity firm Cerberus and later founded an advisory and restructuring firm. He has also held advisory positions with the Treasury and Federal Reserve.
