Manhattan DA and DCWP Launch Joint Initiative to Protect Immigrants from Exploitation
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the Commissioner of the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) have announced a new collaborative effort aimed at safeguarding immigrants from various forms of exploitation. This initiative specifically targets prevalent issues such as wage theft, tenant harassment, and fraud, which disproportionately affect immigrant communities. The partnership seeks to leverage the resources and authority of both offices to provide comprehensive protection and recourse for vulnerable individuals. By combining legal enforcement with consumer and worker advocacy, the program aims to create a more secure environment for immigrants in Manhattan, addressing systemic problems that often go unreported due to fear or lack of awareness.
