Driver Hospitalized After Vehicle Plunges into Zumbro River in Rochester
A motorist was hospitalized after her vehicle crashed into the Zumbro River in downtown Rochester, Minnesota. The incident occurred late Thursday night near the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and 6th Street SW. The Rochester Fire Department responded to the scene, finding the vehicle upside down in 2-3 feet of water. The driver, an adult female, was the sole occupant and sustained minor injuries. She was later booked into the Olmsted County Jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI). The crash caused significant damage to the vehicle and knocked over two sections of riverbank railing. Emergency responders, including the Rochester Police Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance, were involved in the rescue operation.
