Ilya Espino Appointed as First Female Administrator of the Panama Canal
Ilya Espino de Marotta has been appointed as the new administrator of the Panama Canal, announced by Panama's President Jose Raul Mulino. Espino, who has over 40 years of experience with the canal, will be the first woman to lead the entity. She succeeds Ricaurte Vasquez and has served as the deputy administrator since 2020.
