Kentucky Students Embark on Inaugural Washington D.C. Trip Through CAP Youth Program
Forty students from Kentucky, participating in the Christian Appalachian Project’s (CAP) Youth Enrichment Services program, are set to travel to Washington D.C. on October 4th. This marks the first time the program has organized such a trip. The students, including Arryuanna Rhodus, a sophomore at Madison Central High School, and Jordan Weaver, a senior at Rockcastle County High School, expressed excitement for the new experience, with Rhodus noting it will be the furthest east she has ever traveled. Tina Bryson, director of the Christian Appalachian Project, highlighted that the trip will allow students to witness the lawmaking process firsthand, observing where laws that impact their lives in Kentucky are created. The students earned their spots on the four-day trip by collectively logging over 1,000 hours of community service and volunteer work, with donors covering the costs. Bryson hopes this initiative will become an annual event, providing life-changing experiences for the participants.
