Kentucky Middle Schoolers Receive AI-Generated Educational Packet with Numerous Errors
Farnsley Middle School in Kentucky distributed an educational packet to students that contained significant misinformation generated by artificial intelligence. The packet, which parents paid $10 for, included a U.S. map with several states misspelled, such as 'Venecky' for Kentucky, 'Taxas' for Texas, 'Lookoong' for Louisiana, and 'Mane' for Maine. Beyond geographical inaccuracies, the packet also featured illegible moon phases and a periodic table with nonexistent elements and others defying known laws of physics, such as magnesium having a negative atomic mass. Administrators have acknowledged the errors, specifically in pages 19-36 of the packet, and instructed teachers to have students remove these sections. Parents have expressed dissatisfaction and are calling for accountability from school administrators.
