European Investment Bank Provides €100 Million Loan to Support Romanian SMEs
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced a €100 million loan to BRD Sogelease IFN SA, a leasing subsidiary of BRD Groupe Société Générale, aimed at enhancing financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Mid-Caps in Romania. This initiative is designed to support business expansion, productivity improvements, and sustainable development. A significant portion of the loan, 80%, is allocated to investments in Romania's less developed cohesion regions, while 15% is dedicated to green projects such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable transport. The EIB's Vice-President, Ioannis Tsakiris, emphasized the importance of access to finance as a key enabler of competitiveness, particularly for Romanian entrepreneurs. The loan is part of a broader effort by the EIB to support economic and social gains across Romania, providing long-term funding in euros or Romanian lei at favorable conditions.
