Reston Development Transforms Former Fannie Mae Site into Luxury Housing
The former office campus of Fannie Mae in Reston, Virginia, is being transformed into a residential community known as Sunset Station. The development, led by Wheelock Communities, includes luxury townhomes priced over $1 million. The first phase of construction has been completed, with residents moving into the initial townhouses and a community playground now open. The project, approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in 2022, faced some controversy due to concerns about public access. Future phases will replace the former office building with additional residential units, with construction expected to continue through 2028.
