Dominica Partners with Consulting Firm to Enhance Agro-Processing and Boost Local Economy
The government of Dominica has engaged Leve Global Limited, a Trinidad-based consulting firm, to develop a Sustainability Plan and Strategic Framework for the island's agro-processing facility. This initiative aims to retain more financial benefits within the local economy by enhancing the processing and marketing of locally grown produce. Historically, Dominica's farmers have produced high-quality crops, but much of it has been sold raw or lost due to limited processing capabilities. The new plan focuses on building systems to process, package, and sell more locally grown products, such as spices, sauces, and value-added flours. Root crops like dasheen and cassava will be central to production due to their local abundance and potential for processed products. Leve Global will map the agro-food system and design a business model to ensure the facility's efficiency and market reach.
