Vancouver's Broadway Subway Project Faces Delays Due to Tunnel Boring Challenges
The Broadway Subway Project in Vancouver, Canada, has faced significant delays due to challenges encountered by two tunnel boring machines. Originally planned to complete in 12 months, the machines took 16 and 18 months, respectively, to finish their tasks. The project, which extends Vancouver's Millennium Line, involves constructing a 5.7-kilometer extension with six new underground stations. Despite the delays, the project remains within its approved budget of C$2.954 billion. The delays were attributed to unexpected ground conditions and other logistical challenges.
