SpaceX Launches NROL-95 Mission, Sonic Boom Heard Across Florida
SpaceX successfully launched the NROL-95 mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station early Thursday morning. The Falcon 9 rocket carried a classified payload for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). The launch occurred at 3:10 a.m., and shortly after, the first-stage booster returned to Landing Zone 2 at Cape Canaveral, creating a sonic boom that was heard across Brevard County. This mission marked the 49th rocket launch from Florida's Space Coast in 2026. The sonic boom, a result of the booster returning at supersonic speeds, was a notable event for residents in the area.
