Allen County and BG-Warren County Humane Society Launch Trap-Neuter-Release Program
Allen County, Kentucky, has partnered with the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society to implement a Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program. This initiative aims to manage and reduce the feral cat population within Allen County. According to Allen County Judge-Executive Dennis Harper, certain areas in the county are experiencing a significant number of cats, prompting the need for such a program. The TNR process involves a dedicated team trapping feral cats, transporting them to be spayed or neutered, and then returning the adult cats to their original locations. Harper emphasized that this method is humane and has been successfully utilized in Allen County previously. Residents who identify areas with a large number of uncared-for feral cats are encouraged to contact Judge-Executive Harper's office, the humane society, or the county's animal control director, Johnathan Carter, to report the situation and initiate the TNR process.
