Consumer Reports Warns of Shattering Oven Doors, Urges Safety Investigation
Consumer Reports has issued a warning regarding the potential danger of shattering glass doors in ovens, following nearly 400 complaints reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) between January 2025 and March 2026. These incidents have resulted in approximately 40 injuries. The shattering is attributed to micro-cracks in the glass, which can occur from actions such as slamming the door or placing heavy items on it. The issue is not confined to a single brand, with reports involving Frigidaire, GE, Whirlpool, LG, and Samsung ovens. Despite the complaints, manufacturers have stated that their products meet current regulations and have not initiated any changes to address the problem.
