North Carolina Governor Offers $25,000 Reward in 2020 Juneteenth Mass Shooting Case
North Carolina Governor Josh Stein's office has offered a new $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with a mass shooting that occurred during a Juneteenth celebration in June 2020. The incident, which took place on Beatties Ford Road near Catherine Simmons Avenue in Charlotte, resulted in the deaths of Christopher “CJ” Gleaton, Kelly Miller, Dairyon Stevenson, and Jamaa Cassell. Investigators reported that multiple shooters fired over 150 shots into a crowd. Despite the passage of six years, no arrests have been made in the case. This new reward is part of a renewed effort to bring justice for the victims, often referred to as the “Beatties Ford Four.” The families of the victims, including Charles Billings, father of Jamaa Cassell, have expressed renewed hope that this financial incentive will encourage individuals with information to come forward.
