Brett Jardine, the managing director of the Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO), has announced his resignation from the role, effective at the end of the week. Jardine is stepping down to focus on the final stages of his cancer treatment and prioritize his health and wellbeing. During his eight-year tenure, Jardine played a significant role in strengthening the touring sector's position within the broader travel industry. He guided CATO through the challenges posed by COVID-19, advocating for tour operators and ensuring their critical role was recognized by government entities. Jardine's leadership saw the establishment of CATO's Accreditation framework and the expansion of industry events, including the CATO Christmas Lunch and the award-winning CATO Touring Academy.
