Dream Con Faces Potential Relocation Without Financial Support from Texas
Dream Con, a major Black-owned pop culture convention, is considering relocating from Texas due to a lack of financial support. Founded by RDC World, the convention has grown significantly since its inception in 2018, drawing 45,000 attendees this year in Houston. Despite its success, the event's future in Texas is uncertain as other cities like Atlanta and Los Angeles may offer more financial incentives. Dream Con has become a significant cultural event, providing a space for Black fans of anime, video games, and pop culture to gather and celebrate. The convention has also had a substantial economic impact on Houston, generating millions for local businesses.
