Warm Front Brings Severe Weather Threat to Chicago Area
A warm front moving through north central and northeast Illinois is expected to bring severe weather, including thunderstorms, damaging winds, and large hail. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for several Illinois counties, including Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, and others, as well as parts of Indiana. Damaging winds up to 60 mph and hail up to a quarter in size are anticipated. The storms are expected to hit late Friday afternoon, primarily south of I-80, and may continue into the evening. There is also a risk of flooding in areas that experienced heavy rain on Thursday. Current temperatures in the area are in the low 50s, expected to drop to the low 40s overnight.
