Governor Stitt Deploys Oklahoma Swift Water Rescue Teams to New Mexico for Flood Response
Governor Kevin Stitt announced on Sunday that the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management is deploying two swift water rescue teams to New Mexico. These teams are being sent to assist with flood response efforts following intense flooding in the region. The deployment was initiated after a request from the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, made through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). The teams consist of 12 members from Oklahoma Task Force 1, drawn from both Tulsa and Oklahoma City. They are equipped with boats, trailers, and other specialized rescue equipment necessary for swift water operations. The teams departed on Sunday morning for Santa Fe, New Mexico, and are expected to be deployed for a period of up to six days. Governor Stitt emphasized the training, experience, and equipment of these teams, expressing pride in Oklahoma's responders for answering the call for assistance.
