Australia Bans Bulk Carrier for Violating Maritime Labour Convention
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has banned the Liberia-flagged bulk carrier FPMC B Forever from entering Australian ports due to violations of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC). The vessel, operated by Formosa Plastics Marine Corporation, was found to have underpaid its crew by nearly A$15,000 and charged them for potable water, which is unlawful. This is the third such ban issued by AMSA in recent months, highlighting ongoing issues with labor practices in the maritime industry. The ban is effective immediately and will remain in place until October 4.
