Twin Cyclones Maila and Vaianu Threaten Pacific Islands with Severe Weather
Two severe cyclones, Maila and Vaianu, are currently impacting the Pacific region, particularly affecting the Solomon Islands and Fiji. Both cyclones are classified as category three systems, with winds exceeding 120 km/h. Maila is situated in the Solomon Sea, while Vaianu is moving across the South Pacific. The cyclones are expected to bring adverse weather conditions to Australia and New Zealand by the end of the week. The Solomon Islands have activated national disaster management arrangements, issuing a red alert for affected regions. The Fiji Meteorological Service has reported flooding in Nadi, a major tourism hub.
